This comment is not all that uncommon "My project just isn't moving forward." In the last year we've encountered two restoration projects where car owners came to us frustrated with what wasn't happening with their cars. They thought they had their car with a builder that could and would deliver on their expectations. However, the first waited for 18 months with almost no progress after their car's initial teardown. The second has had his car tied up much longer with little or no progress.
To avoid this problem one of the key questions to ask yourself when selecting a shop for for your vehicle is "Is the shop dedicated to custom fabrication and restoration or are they collision repair shop that's focused on insurance work?" Typically custom and restoration work will take a back seat to collision repair where quick panel replacement and paint are the norm and not even the skillset required to get custom or restoration work done. The result -- your project moves slowly if it moves forward at all.
